Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila Executive Officer UNO Md. Kamrul Hasan Maruf receives humanitarian praise by gifting clothes to two street children.
He highlighted this humanitarian incident in a status on the Facebook page of the Upazila Administration Kishoreganj Sadar on Monday night (August 10).
In his Facebook page status, he said that while passing by on the road, he saw a 9-10 year old child. He was wearing old and torn clothes. The child was holding the hand of his younger brother tightly. When he went closer and spoke to him, it was learned that the child’s name was Sabbir. Later, it was learned that the two brothers had gone there to buy food from a hotel.
Sabbir is a fifth grade student of a primary school in Jashodal Union. Along with his studies, he also has to deal with the lack of his family. Since both his parents are sick, he cannot work. The 18-19 year old elder brother of the family works as a mason and somehow manages the family.
The UNO noticed the child’s torn clothes. He asked Sabbir to give him new clothes. At first, the child silently agreed, but later he chose clothes and pants of his choice. New clothes were bought for him.
Sabbir’s face changed instantly after receiving the new clothes and pants. The face that had a hint of poverty a while ago now had a pure smile of joy. Looking at his younger brother in the new clothes, that smile seemed to touch the surrounding environment as well.
UNO Md. Kamrul Hasan Maruf wrote in his Facebook status that the new clothes had brought the joy of Eid to the child’s small world. It is not possible to evaluate that moment of Sabbir’s smile looking at his younger brother with any money.
He also wrote that he may have only given the two children new clothes; but in return he got two innocent smiles that are priceless. So, in our society, there are not only Sabbir, but thousands of street children like him. All circles should come forward to put a little smile on their faces.
