A large amount of narcotics and weapon-like objects have been recovered in a special operation of the Narcotics Control Department (DNC) in Chatkhil, Noakhali.
The operation was conducted between 6 pm and 7 pm on Sunday (July 19, 2026) in the Kazi Bari area of Ward No. 9 of Sahapur Union under Chatkhil Police Station.
DNC sources said that 610 pieces of Yaba tablets (weighing 60 grams) and 400 grams of marijuana were recovered during a raid on the north-facing two-room semi-paka house occupied by the fugitive accused Helal Hossain (28). In addition, a foreign pistol-like object and a bullet-like object were seized.
Accused Helal Hossain is the son of the deceased Abul Kalam of Kazi Bari area of Sahapur Union. He was absconding during the operation.
A regular case has been filed at Chatkhil Police Station under relevant sub-sections of Section 36(1) and Section 19(a) of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018 in this incident. The plaintiff in the case is Inspector Md. Saiful Islam of the Narcotics Control Department, Noakhali.
Subrata Sarkar Shuvo, Deputy Director of DNC Noakhali, said that such operations against drugs will continue and the operation to arrest the absconding accused is underway.
